A week ago Sunday we introduced Missional Community Groups to the ONElife Church family. Here are some highlights in case you missed it!
Growing disciples was at the heart of Jesus’ final words to His own disciples in Matthew 28:19-20:
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
You probably recognize this verse as it’s become known – 'The Great Commission.' “Make Disciples” is the big idea of this statement and it’s our mission as the Church. Discipleship is rooted in the Jewish tradition of accepting a Rabbi’s invitation to “Come, follow me.” And by becoming so enmeshed in closely following the teaching, philosophy, and lifestyle of the Rabbi, the disciples would become covered in the dust of the Rabbi. That’s discipleship. Christian disciples today do this by living gospel-centered lives that are on mission and in community.
Missional Community Groups are the vehicle by which we have chosen to drive our discipleship process of making and maturing disciples of Christ across the street and around the world.
Many of us may have some experience with home bible studies or small groups, so let us share with you the essential elements of Missional Community Groups at ONElife - some of which may be different from your past small group experiences:
Prayer/worship, bible study, fellowship, and missional living are the key, non-negotiable elements of Missional Communty Groups at ONElife because they are the key and necessary ingredients of the Great Commission.
We would love it if you would be in prayer with us for the following:
In closing, please feel free to send me a friend request on Facebook (Tedd Culver). This will really help me put names to faces at ONElife!
